Chlorhexidine rinses help prevent drug-associated gingival enlargement. Chlorhexidine is irritating to eyes and middle ear. It has no effect on suture strength. ChloraPrep is a combination of chlorhexidine and isopropyl alcohol. Serratia can potentially survive, and colonize in chlorhxidine container, thus increasing the chance of serratia outbreaks.
