Milaan Shah, MD

Dr. Milaan Shah is currently a second-year dermatology resident at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. He completed a combined, accelerated 7-year undergraduate and medical school program at the University of South Carolina, where he received his BS and MD degrees, and subsequently went on to complete his Preliminary Year in Internal Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix. Prior to starting his dermatology residency, Dr. Shah completed the prestigious Melanoma Research Fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai under the mentorship of Dr. Darrell Rigel. During that time, he also served as the Co-Managing Editor for SKIN The Journal of Cutaneous Medicine. Dr. Shah has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters in topics including melanoma, psoriasis, and exosomes and currently serves as a Resident Editor for both SKIN The Journal of Cutaneous Medicine and the Dermatology Online Journal. He has also received numerous resident awards and scholarships, including being a multiple-time participant in the Rising Derm Stars competition and being selected for the ODAC Young Dermatology Leader Mentorship Program. Outside of medicine, Dr. Shah previously worked extensively in real estate and property management and has also been involved in nightlife entertainment promotions, where he was part of the Tao Group in New York City, one of the largest hospitality groups in the country. In his free time, he also enjoys spending time with friends, working out, and travelling and has been to over 60 countries across 6 continents.
