Derm In-Review, one of the top dermatology board review prep courses, is now going on the road. The Dermatology In-Review Live Board Review Workshop is a new, in-person event to help dermatology residents prepare for the board exam.
In the past four months, residents in the Miami and New Orleans areas have attended the workshops, which were inspired by the Krazy Kodachrome sessions held at the GW Dermatology Residency Program and streamed online.
“Coke had it right: You can’t beat the real thing,” said Adam Friedman, MD, Derm In-Review’s senior editor and dermatology residency program director at GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences. “Derm In-Review is and has always been the real thing for dermatology board prep and we are bringing you more into ‘the real’ with Dermatology In-Review Live, a unique, in person regional educational engagement that expands on the robust offerings dermatology residents know and love.”
The University of Miami hosted the first live event in December with 26 resident attendees from the surrounding four programs: University of Miami, Broward Health Program, Larkin Community Hospital Palm Springs Campus and the Larkin Community Hospital Program. Organizers and residents welcomed the event.
“We had a very positive experience setting the review session,” said Hadar A. Lev-Tov, MD, associate professor of clinical dermatology and cutaneous surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. “The team was supportive and helped reduce the preparation and administrative burden to a minimum. The event was highly attended and deeply appreciated by the residents. We will do this again.”
Tulane University in New Orleans hosted the second event in March. Twenty-four residents from Tulane and Louisiana State University (LSU) attended.
“The Tulane and LSU dermatology residents felt that the speakers covered very high-yield and board-relevant content in a very efficient way,” said Andrea Murina, MD, dermatology residency program director at Tulane University School of Medicine. “The residents also enjoyed the pre-session food and giveaways. It always helps to stimulate interest and engagement!”
Residents attending the two to three-hour, in-person workshops also received prizes, including gift cards and the Genoderms Made Ludicrously Easy book. Pfizer sponsored both events, which were attended by more than 80% of invited residents.
Derm In-Review is an online study system written and edited by top thought leaders in dermatology. With more than 3,100 board review questions and 4,200 images targeted to help with board prep, Derm In-Review helps dermatology residents take the stress out of preparing for the American Board of Dermatology (ABD) Certifying Examination.
