Congratulations to the 2021 Dermatology Hall of Fame Inductees

Over the past four decades, the highly specialized field of dermatology has seen some major advancements that have improved the lives of people living with conditions that affect the skin, hair, nails, as well as those seeking to improve their appearance.

Celebrating those who advance dermatology

The Dermatology Hall of Fame celebrates dermatologists and others who have contributed to the advancement of the dermatology profession. Created in 2017, the DHoF’s mission includes applauding achievement, promoting education, and remembering the history of dermatology.

This year’s inductees include a list of esteemed doctors that have advanced the field of dermatology.

    • Diane Romayne Baker, MD
    • Wilma Fowler Bergfeld, MD
    • Clay J. Cockerell, MD
    • Roger I. Ceilley, MD
    • Lynn A. Drake, MD
    • Boni E. Elewski, MD
    • William Hanke, MD
    • Joseph L. Jorizzo, MD
    • Perry Robins, MD
    • Daniel Mark Siegel, MD

Dr. Siegel shared his advice to dermatologists and residents early in their careers:

“You are entering the most enjoyable specialty in medicine, a very special gift. Use it wisely and make education and service part of your career. You may be busy in your life, have many things on your plate, and can still give back – tracing, care for those less fortunate, and advocate for your patients.”

“It is an honor and a humbling experience to be recognized by my peers in this manner.” – Daniel Siegel, MD

Dr. C. William Hanke, Chair of the Dermatology Hall of Fame Board of Directors,  also shared his advice:

“Dermatology Hall of Fame inductees have several things in common—they always put the interest of their patients first and they learned to work with others in medicine and dermatology to do or build something greater than themselves. Each of these individuals has many other strengths but if young dermatologists embrace these two common tenants, then our specialty has a very bright future.”
